DARPA transitioned the Tactical Mobile Robot (TMR) program to SSC San Diego at the end of FY-02.  This provides a convenient enabling mechanism for transfer of DARPA-funded research results into ongoing Joint Robotics Program (JRP)-funded development efforts. SSC San Diego is collaborating with a number of TMR participants and other government research activities to extract relevant aspects of their research, port them to related projects, and foster emergent technology transfer opportunities. The main objective of the Technology Transfer program, therefore, is to improve the functionality and autonomy of small mobile robot systems through technology transfer of prior and ongoing developments for infusion into current programs.
